Tayside Police are searching for the owner of a treasure trove of gold jewellery.

The locket and five rings were found in a Dundee supermarket in March.

It is understood they were accidentally dropped into a battery recycling tub by accident.

A force spokesman said officers think they belong to an older lady.

They also revealed the wedding ring has a date engraved on it that any potential collector will have to identify.

They spokesman added: “If you know who these belong to or can claim them on the owner’s behalf – we will obviously ask you to confirm some details for us – please call 101.

“You can also pop in to the Lost Property Office at our West Bell Street office in Dundee City Centre.

“The reference is FP-170-3-22.”
